The soil of Greece was not very fertile along the Coastline. The Ancient Greeks used many systems of Irrigation and Crop Rotation to solve that problem.
All over Greece, the people grew Olives, Grapes and Figs. They kept goats for meat, milk and cheese. In the plains, where the soil was richer, they grew wheat to make bread. Fish, seafood and home made wine were very popular food items in Ancient greece.
In the larger states, meat was able to be purchased in cook shops. Meat was rarely eaten, and was used mainly for sacrifices to the gods

The Agora was like a gathering place for Greeks to buy food and clothing, and trade items for money or livestock. The Agora, in Greek, meant 'open for gathering'. In early Greece, they were used so free citizens could gather to hear announcements, as military gatherings, and a place to discuss politics. In later Greece, the Agora was defined as an open air marketplace covered with flimsy tents, where merchants had their shops, and craftsmen sold their goods.
